One of the main influences on colour selection for a painting project is the directional orientation of the room. North-facing rooms get more natural light which suits more subdued tones. South-facing rooms get less natural light which better suits more reflective tones.

 

To encourage people to use Dulux as their paint choice for their project, we came up with the Colour Compass. By simply standing in a room, you can determine which direction it faces by pointing the top of the compass at the window. Users would then be linked to on-trend colours for rooms of that orientation.
